Audi Q4 e-tron Owners Club — Maintenance & Provenance
Independent owners’ resource. This page is produced by The Owners Club and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Audi AG or Audi UK. Information below is gathered from public sources and should be confirmed in your vehicle handbook (VIN) or with an authorised dealer before booking work. The Q4 e-tron is Audi’s compact electric SUV on the Volkswagen Group MEB platform — the same technical base used by VW ID.4/ID.5, Skoda Enyaq and Cupra Born. It launched for model year 2022 and is offered as a conventional SUV and as Sportback (lower roofline).
A significant facelift arrived for 2025–2026 with updated design, new motors and efficiency/range improvements, while keeping two battery options. Battery kWh figures commonly summarised as 59 / 63 / 77 / 82 vary a little by source depending on exact model year and whether gross or usable capacity is quoted — confirm the figure for your VIN in the Audi configurator or at a dealer.

1. Generations on this page
Q4 e-tron Mk1, pre-facelift (2021–2024)
MEB · variants 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 quattro · batteries often listed as 52 kWh or 77 kWh on older cars, later standardised toward 59 kWh / 77 kWh. SUV and Sportback body styles. Single-speed automatic — no DSG, no timing belt or chain.
Q4 e-tron Mk1, facelift (2025–present)
MEB · new motors, roughly ~10% better efficiency · batteries commonly listed as 63 kWh / 82 kWh · DC charging up to about 185 kW on quattro versions. Same two body styles; service focus remains 12V, brake fluid, tyres, cabin filter and software rather than ICE items.
Capacity figures vary a little between sources by exact model year and whether gross or usable kWh is reported (commonly summarised as 59 / 63 / 77 / 82). Confirm the exact figure for your VIN in the Audi configurator or at a dealer — treat published sheets, including this one, as indicative.
2. Powertrains & variants
| Variant | Drive | Battery | Approx. power |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q4 35 e-tron | Rear (RWD) | Smaller (59 / 63 kWh) | ~170 PS |
| Q4 40 / 45 e-tron | Rear (RWD) | Larger (77 / 82 kWh) | ~204–286 PS |
| Q4 50 / 55 e-tron quattro | All-wheel (AWD) | Larger (77 / 82 kWh) | ~299–335 PS |
All versions are single-speed automatics (no DSG, no timing belt or chain) — servicing focuses on different components than combustion models.
3. Known issues — check before assuming a major fault
Not diagnostic advice. Themes below reflect commonly reported MEB / Q4 patterns; always verify for your build, software version and open campaigns. If you’ve had something fixed under warranty that isn’t listed, post it on the discussion board.
12V battery drain (most reported on MEB)
Like all MEB models, the Q4 e-tron has a 12V battery separate from the high-voltage traction pack. It powers control modules, telematics and unlocking. Especially on 2021–2022 cars, the 12V can discharge if the car sits unused for 1–2 weeks, leaving the vehicle completely dead (won’t unlock, MMI won’t start) even when the traction battery is full. Audi moved to an EFB-type 12V from mid-2022 to reduce this risk. See the 12V battery drain guide on this site.
DC/DC converter recall (2024–2025 models)
On some 2024–2025 cars, condensation inside the on-board charger can affect a circuit board and stop the DC/DC converter recharging the 12V battery. If your car falls in that window, ask the dealer whether the recall was completed — the repair is free under the campaign.
Software / infotainment instability
Frozen MMI, multiple warnings lighting up at start-up, or lost myAudi connectivity are usually caused by a weak 12V or outdated software — not a major mechanical fault. A dealer software update resolves most cases; log the version and date.
4. UK service interval at a glance (EV)
| Service | Miles / months | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MEB / ID.-family inspection (UK) | No fixed mileage (normal use) / 24 months | Aligns with Volkswagen UK EV guidance for the ID. family; confirm in the handbook for your VIN. |
| Brake fluid | — / 24 months | Calendar replacement regardless of mileage — fluid absorbs moisture even when regen means brakes are little used. |
| 12V battery test | — / 24 months, or immediately if symptoms | Load-test, not voltage-only. Preventive replacement often recommended at 3–4 years. |
| Cabin / pollen filter | — / 12 months | Annual, as on any vehicle. |
| Tyre wear check | ~10,000 miles / 6 months | EVs are heavier with instant torque — front tyre wear can be faster than an equivalent combustion model. |
| Brake disc / caliper condition | Every service | Regen means calipers work less — surface corrosion from under-use can appear, not only pad wear. |
Intervals are indicative, whichever comes first (miles or months) unless stated otherwise. They vary by motor, model year, market and service regime. Always confirm in the handbook, service booklet or dealer system for your VIN before booking work. Do not copy US cluster reminders into UK warranty intervals.
5. Warranty — summary
- Standard vehicle warranty: 3 years / 60,000 miles (UK) — among the shorter covers in the premium segment.
- High-voltage battery: 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever first, with capacity not to fall below 70% of original usable capacity in that period.
- Electric motor, DC/DC converter and 12V battery: covered only under the shorter standard vehicle warranty — not the extended traction-battery cover.
Confirm exact terms in your vehicle documentation — warranty conditions are set at sale and can vary by market and registration date.
6. Official resources
Official links are for convenience and accuracy. The Owners Club has no commercial relationship with Audi AG or Volkswagen and cannot confirm pricing, availability or booking on their behalf. We do not yet have a dedicated official booking URL for this model — follow the handbook/dealer interval and log each service in the digital garage. Warranty and battery terms should always be confirmed against your own documentation.
- Owner’s manual and dealer service system for your VIN — follow the edition matched to your model year and market
7. Before you book a dealer visit
- Check 12V battery voltage (under 12.4 V, or battery older than 3–4 years → consider preventive replacement)
- Check whether an open recall exists for your VIN (especially DC/DC on 2024–2025 cars)
- Compare current software version against the latest available at the dealer
- Confirm remaining vehicle and high-voltage battery warranty terms if buying used

FAQ
How often should you service an Audi Q4 e-tron in the UK?+
Usually every 24 months for the MEB / ID.-family inspection under normal use, with brake fluid and 12V battery care on a calendar basis between inspections. Confirm in your VIN handbook.
Why won’t the car start when the high-voltage battery is charged?+
Most likely the separate 12V battery has discharged — a known MEB pattern if the car sits unused for more than 1–2 weeks. Check 12V voltage before assuming a more serious fault.
Does the Q4 e-tron have active recalls?+
2024–2025 models had a DC/DC converter recall (internal condensation affecting 12V recharging). Ask a dealer whether your VIN is affected and whether the free repair was completed.
