The official way to get MOT history is GOV.UK. You only need the vehicle’s number plate (registration). You do not need an account, and the government check is free.

England, Scotland and Wales
Car, motorcycle and van results go back to 2005. You can also see failed parts and minor defects. To see where each test was done, you need the 11-digit number from the V5C log book. Recalled vehicles may also be flagged, depending on the manufacturer.
Northern Ireland
You can only get results for tests done since 2017. Northern Ireland testing is included on the same GOV.UK MOT history page — still using the registration number.
