UK service interval

Audi A6 (C4 1994–1997 · C5 1997–2004 · C6 2004–2011 · C7 2011–2018 · C8 2018–2025 · 2025+ PPC) service follows Audi Fixed or Flexible programmes by market, model year, engine code and transmission — there is no single universal A6 interval. Timing-system type must be resolved from the exact engine code; never invent belt or chain claims across C4–C8/PPC. Multitronic, S tronic and Tiptronic need separate gearbox-family evidence. Keep combustion A6 separate from A6 e-tron (PPE). VIN / handbook remains authoritative.

Intervals are whichever comes first (miles or months) unless noted. They vary by engine, model year, market and service regime. Confirm in the handbook, service booklet or dealer system for your VIN before you book work.

Model years

  • A6 C4 (1994–1997): First A6-named generation (Audi 100 C4 successor). Sedan/Avant; petrol/diesel; quattro; early S6. Age-related corrosion and parts availability matter — do not apply C8/PPC service framing backwards.
  • A6 C5 (1997–2004): Sedan/Avant; first A6 allroad (~2000); Multitronic on selected FWD; S6/RS6. Modern-classic ownership themes.
  • A6 C6 (2004–2011): Sedan/Avant/allroad; Multitronic / Tiptronic; S6/RS6 (C6 RS6 V10 notable). Tech-heavy cabin era begins.
  • A6 C7 (2011–2018): Sedan/Avant/allroad; TFSI/TDI; Multitronic / S tronic / Tiptronic; S6/RS6 Avant (4.0 TT V8). Lightweight construction expands.

  • allroad, S6 and RS6 are not the same as volume FWD sedan checklists.

FAQ

How often should you service an Audi A6?
It depends on market, generation (C4–C8/PPC), engine code, transmission and whether the car is on Fixed or Flexible service. Always verify the VIN-specific Audi schedule — there is no single universal A6 interval.
Does every A6 have a timing belt?
No. Timing-system design varies by engine code and model year across C4–C8/PPC. Record the engine code and any belt/chain invoices before associating a theme with a vehicle.
Is Multitronic the same as S tronic?
No. Multitronic is a CVT used on selected earlier FWD A6s. S tronic is a dual-clutch family. Tiptronic is another automatic family. Store transmission family separately.
Is A6 e-tron covered by this schedule?
No. A6 e-tron is a separate PPE electric hub with its own EV inspection framing. Use /models/audi/a6-e-tron/service-schedule for BEV ownership.
How do I prove service history for an A6?
Log generation (C4–C8/PPC), body style, engine code, transmission, drivetrain, dates, mileage, invoices, inspections and recalls — plus PHEV battery/charging evidence where applicable.
