UK service interval
Volkswagen Arteon service follows Fixed or Flexible programmes by market, model year, technical stage, engine code, transmission and drivetrain — there is no single universal Arteon interval. UK Fixed vs Flexible figures below are UK market examples only. One generation 2017–end of production (MQB). 2020 is a major update, not Gen 2. Shooting Brake / eHybrid / R are body or performance derivatives. Keep Arteon separate from Passat. VIN / handbook remains authoritative.
Intervals are whichever comes first (miles or months) unless noted. They vary by engine, model year, market and service regime. Confirm in the handbook, service booklet or dealer system for your VIN before you book work.
| Service | Miles | Months | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scheduled service — VW Fixed / Flexible | Per Volkswagen VIN schedule | Per cluster / handbook | UK example: Fixed often ~9,300 miles or 12 months; Flexible can stretch toward ~18,600 miles / 24 months when coded and driven that way. Do not copy this row to every Arteon worldwide or onto Passat. |
| Engine oil & filter | Per Fixed/Flexible | Per programme | Oil grade is engine-code specific. Keep invoices. |
| Timing system inspection / replacement | Engine-code specific | Engine-code specific | Never invent one Arteon timing rule. |
| DSG (where fitted) | Per gearbox & handbook | Per gearbox & handbook | Configuration-dependent. R uses 7-speed DSG — gearbox-code evidence. |
| 4MOTION / Haldex (where fitted) | Per handbook | Per handbook | Standard on Arteon R; optional on other configs. Often ~40,000 miles fluid on UK examples — confirm VIN. |
| Brake fluid | — | Per handbook (often ~24 months) | Calendar item — confirm market schedule. |
| 12V battery test | — | At every service, or sooner if symptoms | Infotainment/ADAS/PHEV Arteon cars are sensitive to weak 12V. |
| PHEV HV / charging (eHybrid) | — | Per handbook / dealer | 2020-update stage only. Keep HV records separate from ICE-only rows. |
| Recall / campaign check | — | At every service | VIN- and market-specific — never assume one country’s recall is global. |

UK notes
- UK Fixed vs Flexible figures are market examples — not a global Arteon interval.
- DSG and Haldex (4MOTION) extras apply on many UK cars — confirm configuration.
- eHybrid and R items are stage/derivative specific — do not apply to every Arteon.
- Intervals are whichever comes first (miles or months) unless noted. They vary by engine, model year, market and service regime. Confirm in the handbook, service booklet or dealer system for your VIN before you book work.
FAQ
- How often should you service a VW Arteon in the UK?
- Follow the VIN-specific Volkswagen Fixed or Flexible programme. Typical UK Fixed framing is every 12 months or about 9,300 miles; Flexible can stretch when the cluster asks. This is not a global Arteon rule.
- Is there one service interval for every Arteon?
- No. Do not publish a universal Arteon interval. Market, model year, technical stage, engine code, gearbox and drivetrain all change the schedule. Do not invent a second generation, and do not merge Arteon rows into Passat.
